Did you know that collard greens are prehistoric? That ancient Greeks and Romans grew them? That they were eaten in Africa – with “pot likker” – for centuries before they were brought to North America?
Today, collards — along with mustard and turnip greens – are a staple at African-American meals and celebrations. And they're being discovered at trendy restaurants and by American families of many cultures.
Join us March 1st in celebrating the final harvest and reseeding of the greens at Promised Land Farm in the historic African-American community of Monteith, GA near Port Wentworth.
Y'all come have a mess o' greens!
